ElevenLabs vs WellSaid: a voice library for creators vs an enterprise voiceover studio

By Jean Luc Poitier, SEO and growth marketing strategist · 11Reviews · Updated September 27, 2026

Quick verdict

ElevenLabs costs less to start, from a free plan to a $6 commercial tier, and gives you 10,000+ voices, voice cloning from the $6 plan, and speech in 70+ languages. WellSaid is a narrower product aimed at corporate training and marketing teams: English voices recorded with licensed actors, pronunciation tools, SOC 2 reports, and invoicing on its team plans.

For solo creators, multilingual work, or anyone who wants to clone a voice, ElevenLabs is the better fit. WellSaid is the better pick for an L&D or marketing team that narrates English scripts at volume, because it charges only for downloaded minutes and lets you regenerate lines as often as you like. On reviews, neither pulls ahead: their unprompted Trustpilot averages are within a tenth of a star.

ElevenLabs prices are monthly billing. Minute estimates for ElevenLabs follow its rate of about one credit per character and vary by model. Trustpilot samples were pulled on September 27, 2026; Trustpilot labels each review invited or unprompted. WellSaid's reviews go back further because it collects few, so the two unprompted samples cover different years.

ElevenLabs vs WellSaid pricing: credits vs downloaded minutes

The sticker prices favor ElevenLabs. Its Starter plan is $6 a month with a commercial license and 30,000 credits. WellSaid's Starter costs $19 month to month for 20 downloaded minutes, or $10 a month if you pay $120 up front for the year. One tier up, ElevenLabs Creator costs $22 ($11 for the first month) for 121,000 credits, and WellSaid Pro costs $49 a month or $33 a month billed yearly.

The meters work differently, and that changes the math. ElevenLabs deducts credits every time you generate, so a line you redo five times costs five times as much. Credits running out faster than expected is the most common complaint in the ElevenLabs reviews we track. WellSaid counts only the finished audio you download and lets paid users regenerate without limit. A narrator who tweaks every sentence gets more usable audio per dollar from WellSaid than the headline prices suggest. Unused minutes don't roll over on WellSaid; ElevenLabs carries unused credits for up to two months while a paid plan stays active. See our ElevenLabs pricing breakdown for the full tier list.

Voices and languages: ElevenLabs' library vs WellSaid's English catalog

ElevenLabs lists 10,000+ voices, lets you clone your own from the $6 plan, and speaks 70+ languages. WellSaid cites 280+ voices, each built with a professional voice actor, licensed for commercial use, and protected from cloning. Its self-serve and Business plans include English voices only, with accents such as British, South African, and Australian. Spanish, French, Japanese, and its other languages, plus translation, are Enterprise features.

Plan limits on voices are an old sore point in WellSaid's reviews. Several 2022 and 2023 reviewers bought a $49 plan and found only four voices unlocked. Today's Starter and Pro plans list all English voices, but a December 2025 reviewer still complained about plan changes:

“They change plans and move popular voices to more expensive tiers.”Alex, Trustpilot, December 2025

ElevenLabs and WellSaid reviews, compared like for like

Both companies hold a 3.0 TrustScore on Trustpilot, ElevenLabs across 1,163 reviews and WellSaid across 23. Overall scores mostly reflect how many customers a company invites to review, so we split the samples. Among unprompted reviews, ElevenLabs averages 1.52 across 29 posted in August and September 2026, and WellSaid averages 1.58 across 19 posted between October 2022 and June 2026. That gap is noise on samples this small and this far apart in time, so we call it a tie. ElevenLabs' invited reviewers average 4.95 (21 reviews); WellSaid's invited sample has only 3 reviews, too few to compare.

The complaints overlap. Unprompted reviewers of both products describe billing surprises, renewals they thought they had cancelled, and slow support. WellSaid's reviewers add account blocks, from a login rule tied to one IP address and from content moderation that flagged ordinary words. ElevenLabs reviewers report free accounts blocked for unusual activity. Switching products won't guarantee a smoother billing experience, so read the refund terms first: ElevenLabs refunds within 14 days if no credits were used, and WellSaid's online services agreement calls payments nonrefundable and asks you to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.

Where WellSaid wins

  • Unlimited regeneration on paid plans: you pay for downloaded minutes, so retakes are free
  • Pronunciation tools built for training content: smart suggestions, a shared pronunciation library, an Oxford Dictionary integration, and 9,000+ medical and 500+ legal terms
  • Voices recorded with licensed actors and protected from cloning, which matters to brands worried about misuse
  • Team features buyers in L&D ask for: purchase orders and invoicing on Business, SOC 2 reports and SSO on Enterprise, and a stated policy of never training on customer data
  • Adobe Express integration from Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro on Business
“The AI Director feature is a total lifesaver for instructional content because we can instantly fix the pronunciation of tricky technical terms, product features, and software acronyms.”Kelli, Trustpilot, May 2026 (invited review)

ElevenLabs vs WellSaid FAQ

Is ElevenLabs or WellSaid cheaper?+

ElevenLabs has the lower entry price: Starter is $6 a month with a commercial license, against WellSaid's Starter at $19 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly ($120). The two meter usage differently, though. ElevenLabs charges credits for every generation, retakes included, while WellSaid counts only the minutes you download and lets you regenerate as often as you like. If you redo lines many times, WellSaid's minutes stretch further than the sticker price suggests.

Which has more voices and languages?+

ElevenLabs, by a wide margin. Its library lists 10,000+ voices, and it generates speech in 70+ languages. WellSaid's pages cite 280+ voices built with licensed voice actors; its Starter, Pro, and Business plans include English voices only, and other languages plus translation come with Enterprise.

How do ElevenLabs and WellSaid reviews compare?+

Close to even. Both hold a 3.0 TrustScore on Trustpilot, ElevenLabs across 1,163 reviews and WellSaid across 23. Comparing unprompted Trustpilot reviews only, ElevenLabs averages 1.52 (29 reviews, August to September 2026) and WellSaid 1.58 (19 reviews, October 2022 to June 2026), a tie on small samples from different years. WellSaid's invited sample (3 reviews) is too small to compare. On G2, WellSaid shows 4.7 on its own site and ElevenLabs holds 4.5 across 1,140 reviews.

Does WellSaid have a free plan?+

Yes. WellSaid's free Trial plan needs no credit card and includes 3 download minutes a month without commercial rights. ElevenLabs' free plan gives 10,000 credits a month, roughly 10 minutes of audio, for non-commercial use with attribution.

When is WellSaid the better choice?+

When a training or marketing team produces English narration at volume, redoes lines often, and wants purchase orders, SOC 2 reports, and voices that can't be cloned by other users. WellSaid is built for that buyer, and its unlimited regeneration removes the credit anxiety that ElevenLabs reviewers complain about most.
