How credits work

About 1 text character equals 1 credit (less on Flash/Turbo models via the API). Unused credits roll over for up to two months while your paid plan stays active. They expire if you cancel or downgrade.

Prices shown are per month on monthly billing. Annual billing is cheaper. Pricing and credit allowances were last checked June 24, 2026 and may have changed since. Confirm the current numbers on ElevenLabs' official pricing page.

Which plan should you pick?

Just exploring? Start on the free tier. Several reviewers produced real work (like YouTube Shorts voiceovers) on it before they paid a cent. It's the fastest way to judge the voice quality risk-free.

Going commercial? You need at least Starter for the commercial license. Most full-time creators and audiobook authors in our reviews land on Creator, the tier reviewers call the best value.

High volume or building a product? Pro and above add the output quality, API concurrency, and credit headroom that developers building voice agents say they need.

One recurring caveat from reviewers: credits can run out faster than expected. Unused credits roll over for up to two months while your paid plan stays active, but they expire if you cancel or downgrade. Size your plan to your real monthly volume. See the full review breakdown and our methodology.
